The transformations in the Brazilian urban labor market, special1y since 1990, have induced the growth of precariousness through the increase of unemployment and informal activities. This article analyzes the characteristics of a section of the informal labor market in Belém - food sellers on the street – and may help to evaluate some ele-ments that are important for the dynamics of labor market in this city.
