This article presents the results of research undertaken in the region of Amazonia. Its objective is to study the valorization of tropical fruits by small family farmers, focusing on the fruit acaí (Eulerpea oleracea marl.), a highly consumed fruit in the northern region of the country, principally in the State of Pará, which is the main producer and consumer in Brazil. The article indicates how farmers can optimise the sale of their production. It suggests adding value to these fruits through processing within a farmers’ co-operative. It analyses the expansion of juice consumption in other regions of Brazil specifically the city of Rio de Janeiro, which has already shown a significant increase in consumption during the last six years.
