Abstract

This paper was meant as a personal account of my history within Psychology. The basic idea is to recall the contingencies that controlled some of the choices that led to a carrier as a researcher in behavior analysis. The first recollections, seemingly disconnected with that professional activity, began during my childhood and continued through my first academic contact with Psychology, the political events that changed the course of an undergraduate program, the people that influenced the choice for radical behaviorism and basic research with animals. The several stages of work are briefly described, acknowledging the people that contributed to make this journey more productive and pleasant.Key words: behavior analysis, contingencies, choice.
