Abstract

The science of behavior is grounded on a relational, non-internalist view of psychological phenomena. However, there is recognition of and the attempt to explain what has been treated as “inside experience” (i.e., the high probability to describe one’s feelings and thinking as inside experiences). This paper focuses on some social contingencies responsible for such self-descriptions in the light of diverse literary contributions. Emphasis is given to social variables related to the refinement of self-control in modern societies and to their impact on the interpersonal relationships.Key words: Inside world, self-control, feelings, thinking
