Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it should be justified in "Editor's Comments".

  • Files for submission are in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (provided they do not exceed 10MB).

  • URLs for referrals were reported when needed.

  • The text is in simple space; uses a 12-point font; uses italic instead of underlining (except URL addresses); the figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document, as attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors in the About section.
  • The authorship identification of the work was removed from the file and from the Properties option in Word, thus guaranteeing the journal's confidentiality criterion, if submitted for peer review (eg articles), according to instructions available in Securing the Peer Blind Assessment.
  • The authors declare that they are aware and susceptible to the penalties described in the Ethics and malpractices statement

If the text is approved by ad hoc reviewers, authors will receive the detailed formatting standards to prepare the final version of the text to be published.

b) Research articles should present with objective, clarity and coherence the theoretical reference, research questions, data collection and analysis methods employed, results obtained duly analyzed and discussed, and, finally, the conclusions and implications of the research for the area of Science and Mathematics Education.

c) Articles of the literature review type (from the ECM area) may also be accepted provided that they are unpublished, up-to-date and extensive theoretical reviews, the subject of which does not have a proper revision in books or articles already published.

d) The text may be presented in Portuguese or Spanish. Those presented in Portuguese should contain on the first page a summary in Portuguese, of a maximum of 200 words, and their respective English translation. In this second case, the abstract must be presented in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

e) The illustrations, figures and tables must be in the body of the text, duly numbered and subtitled. The figures must have a minimum resolution of 200 dpi and their authorship or source must be mentioned in the legend (and listed in the references if they have been taken from books, magazines, websites, etc.). (f) Explanatory notes should be listed consecutively within the text and presented as footnotes to the page.

g) References should be presented in alphabetical order, at the end of the text, and follow the ABNT standards (NBR 6023/2002). The references listed and citations in the text are the responsibility of the author (s) of the works.
