Abstract

ABSTRACT: In order to act in the preservation of the environment, several countries have created environmental conservation units in their territories. In Brazil, the management of Conservation Units (CUs) is governed by Law 9,985 of 2000, which establishes the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC). The objective of the research was to discuss the participation and management of the organs responsible for CUs at federal, state and municipal level, located within the territory of the municipality of Marabá-PA, in addition to performing, with the active managers, a survey of data regarding the Themselves. The methodology used presents a qualitative approach, segmented in two stages, the first consisted of bibliographic research in the database of Scielo; and the second, in information visits to the public agencies responsible for the management of Conservation Units in the municipality. The research allowed to raise a total of 329 CUs in the Amazon, among them, 82 of integral protection and 247 of sustainable use, including those of federal, state and municipal scope registered in the SNUC. Already within the state territory, still registered in the system, there are 84 CUs, which are 55 federal, 25 state and 4 municipal. Located in the municipality, there are 3 federal units, no state and 4 municipal units of private responsibility. From this survey, the lack of management of the Conservation Units was noticed by the municipal agencies in Marabá. At the federal and state levels, even with many administrative difficulties, they go for improvements in the CUs.KEYWORDS: Legislation, Environment, Preservation.
