The ancient hospitals in Lisbon, situated on the hill of St. Anne, are the holders of an important cultural, artistic and scientific heritage. In this paper, we present a historical note for each institution, we reveal the means for safeguarding the heritage of these hospitals and we tell the story of an intangible heritage of humanity and affection. As the announcement of the closure of all these hospitals as already been made, it becomes urgent to disclose such important heritage of the city of Lisbon and of Portugal, thinking on its preservation. Disabling this set of hospitals represents a rare opportunity for the city of Lisbon to develop and implement an integrated plan for the renovation of its most central hill.
