Pesquisa arqueológica no sambaqui do bacanga, São Luís, Maranhão: Reflexões sobre a ocorrência de cerâmica em sambaquis do litoral equatorial amazônico

The present article deals with the pre-historic occupation of the equinoctial Amazonian seashore using as a leading axis the resultsobtained from archaeological research undertaken at the Bacanga shellmound in São Luís, Maranhão. Fieldwork at the mentioned shellmound indicated occupation by fshing, gathering, hunting, and pottery production populations settled in the region from 6.600 to 900 yBP. The investigation sought to place the study in the broad context of the inestigations already carried out in the area, in order to fnd support for the current case study interpretation.Key words: Ceramics, shell mounds, Amazonian equinoctial sea-shore.Téléchargements
