Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the influence of the European Union regional policies on the national policies of its Member States. For that, we decided to study the question of human rights policy for the Roma people, a minority that has for a long time suffered from discrimination, exclusion and even extermination. At the end, we conclude that, despite heavy institutionalization, especially in the Executive branch of the EU, and direct investment on the issue (both educational and fi nancial), it is not clear if these measures are effective, given the current social and economic situation of the European continent. Keywords: European Union, Human Rights, Roma population.
